Tuesday Tunes

My sister Callie first introduced me to this fabulous duo a few years back. And yes, I must admit that during that "punk rock stage of my life," the talented and hauntingly beautiful First Aid Kit just really wasn't doing it for me.

But now?
I... can't get enough of them.
They're sisters too. :)
How cool is that?

One of my favorites ever:
"I Met Up With The King"

And another of my favorites (live too):
"In The Morning"

So watcha think?

I hope you're all having a great week.

Happy Tuesday!

Meet The Forecast.
{via}

We've had an ongoing relationship since I first heard this beauty:
"Some Things Never Change"

(check out the real video please! it's better x a gazillion :D.)

Which was quickly followed by this one:
"And We All Return To Our Roots"

(again with the real video)

They're pretty fantastic.
Don't you agree?

Happy Tuesday ya'll!

How stinkin' awesome is this guy?
Well...I think he's pretty swell. Enough so that
Jonsi is my most current musical crush.
I just bet he'd be amazing to see live.

I especially love this one:
"Animal Arithmetic"

Isn't he great?

Happy Tuesday!! :)

Tuesday Tunes

I've been in love with Hanson, admittedly, since MMMbop first found its way into my adolescent life. Yes, THAT Hanson.

I was so caught up in the rush. For real, these guys were to die for. The lyrics, the songs, the hair!! I just couldn't help it. :)

After they fell off the radar for a while, I found myself quite overcome. And then came This Time Around. I was then convinced that there would be no stopping these guys. They had staying power.

And they have yet to disappoint me. Listening to them brings back a lot of happy memories. Their songs make me happy.

This song is my current fave from their newest album "Shout it Out." It...makes me want to dance. And sing and jump for joy! :)

"Thinking 'Bout Somethin'"

I'm sure I'm not the only one? ;)
Right?
haha.
I hope everyone's having a great week.

Tuesday Tunes

I first heard of Brooke Fraser after I stumbled across these lyrics one day:

Oh can you feel the gravity falling, calling us home?
Oh, did you see the stars colliding, shining just to show we belong?
We belong.

After seeing that I just had to look her up.

Boom!

Instant love.
Now, I turn to her when I need something soft and beautiful and inspiring to listen to. Which has been a lot this past few months, let me tell ya.

I've spent a lot of time listening to her and you should too! :)

My faves:

"Deciphering Me"

"C.S. Lewis Song"

and "Love is Waiting"

So...watcha think?

Happy Tuesday!

Right now I am completely, totally, and utterly loving
Kate Miller-Heidke.

And her music has been playing here constantly.

Not only is she an extremely amazing singer, but she is also unique, real, and true to herself. I seriously loved her the moment I first heard her. And I do realize I seem to say that a lot on here...hmmm. I guess I just know when I love something/someone? It's a good thing, right?

Anyways, her voice is mesmerizing.

My current faves:

"Caught in the Crowd"

and "Last Day on Earth"

What do you think? Have/had you ever heard of her before?

I hope everyone is having a great week. I'm just swimming along here. Literally. I spend so much time at the neighborhood pool/tennis courts (with the kids I watch) that I feel like I missed my calling in life. I should have been a fish. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

I absolutely love
A Fine Frenzy.

Her voice enthralls me, her lyrics inspire me, and her melodies make me feel.

She is the complete package as far as singer/songwriters go, in my opinion. I fell in love with her about three years ago and it has remained an ongoing affair. I just...can't seem to get enough of her.

*Note: this is just a sampling of her music. If you find yourself as in awe as I am/was, please feel free to listen to her albums in their entirety. You won't regret it. :)

Three of my favorite faves:

"Ashes and Wine"

"You Picked Me"

And "Almost Lover"

Pleasepleaseplease look her up! Share the love!

So what do you think?

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. Mine is going fantastically. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Tunes

I feel slightly ashamed to admit it...but...
I have a huge crush on The Ready Set.

There I said it.
Whew! Weight off my chest ;).

And, please understand that when I say crush, I mean it in the broadest of terms. I do not cyberstalk him (much) and I do not fantasize about meeting him in person.

And if you believe that, I have an ocean- front property in Arizona for you to see...

I just love his music.

well and him too, of course. haha.

I saw him perform this past May at Bamboozle and let me just say, he was amazing live and he didn't let me down during his performance :).

If you're never heard of him (or his friends) you should definitely look him up if you're into pop-py/alternative/electronic-ish music at all.

Which, erm... I am.

My current faves include:

"Love Like Woe"

^^(all time fave)^^

"Stays Four the Same"

and

"Solar Flares"

And to make things even better (as if that were possible) he will be in Austin this summer. So I can see him...again.

Well, I'm excited anyways. :P

How have you guys been? What do you think of him/his music?

I hope you all are well! Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Tunes

If you asked me how I first heard of this band I would not be able to give you a simple answer. Suffice to say, they're amazing. And that's all you really need to know.
This week, I'm totally in love with The Nadas. And this is my current fave: "The Long Goodbye"

So, whatcha think?

Tuesday Tunes

This past Sunday, my sisters and I braved the crowds and searing heat and went to see the Bamboozle Roadshow! It was, in a word, incredible!
(more to come on that experience later...)

While walking aimlessly around Fiesta Texas trying to find the ever elusive main stage, we stumbled across the merch section of the event. Because it had ended up being more than we had anticipated to get into the show/park, we were trying to walk quickly through, avoiding eye contact, in order to avoid temptation if you will.

We were stopped in our tracks though, by a call of "Hey, you three! Yes, you."
We turned around, incredulously. Who in the world was talking to us?
It was this tall, slightly sunburned, wavy haired brunette.
"Hey, look," he said, as he proceeded to lift his wrist into the air and show us his bracelet which read: I HEART REDHEADS. :)
My sisters and I all have varying shades of reddish hair and so were slightly flattered to be shown such attention.

After some slight persuasion we agreed to come into their tent and listen to this guy's "f-ing awesome band (according to him)," being promised that we would love it.

And oh boy, did we!!!

It was such an incredible group to hear even after only 30 seconds of listening.
10 minutes later, we left the tent all the happier for stumbling (literally) across this amazing-ness The Sunstreak.

I am so in love with them it's insane.

The guy we met was the bass player, Jason Sarkis, pictured above second from the right. We even got to buy their CD at a discounted price because we're just that awesome. And so is their album by the way. You may have heard of them actually as One Year Nothing. Apparently that was their name originally.

There is a lot more to this story but somehow this post just doesn't seem to be doing them (or the experience) quite enough justice. But if you are into alternative/rock/pop music then this just very well be your new favorite band.

Feel free to check them out yourself :). Here is just a sampling of their music:

So what did you think? Any thoughts would be very appreciated. I hope everyone had a fantastic Tuesday! Until next time...

Tuesday Tunes

Sooo. I've been eyeing many a blogs Music Monday posts for quite some time. I am obsessive about music (to say the least) so the idea of this excites me greatly :). But I get on my blog when I can, and this is rarely even every day, or even more than once a day. So I've decided that since I'm now participating in Much Love Monday's, why not just start doing a music post on Tuesday? Why not indeed.

And so "Tuesday Tunes" is born.
Yaayyy!
(Clever title, eh?)

I shall try not to be overly opinionated in my choices of music and to be rather open-minded musically.
(I don't want to be seen as a music snob.)
But truthfully, this is my blog, so it will be about my taste in music, yes? ;)

Today's pick is brought to you by The (ever enchanting and lovely) Cardigans.

I've known about this group for a few years now, but like, in the back of my mind. I stumbled across this song online a couple months ago and instantly remembered how much I love them. If you ever have the opportunity, please give them a listen. You won't regret it.

My current fave: "You're the Storm"

So what do you think? Any thoughts/opinions/feelings about either the idea or the song/band? I would love some feedback!

I hope everyone is having/had a great Tuesday! Huzzah! I'm off to bed. Night!

xoxo
